10 Tips for Showing Your Home

1. Turn on all of the lights. Event if it's daytime - the brighter the better. 2. Make the house a comfortable temperature. Now is not the time to conserve energy. Crank the a/c or turn on the heat. If the temperature is uncomfortable, the buyers will remember it as being an uncomfortable home. 3. Take everything off the refrigerator. Pizza delivery magnets, kid's artwork, lunch menus, etc. Take every last piece of it down. 4. Get a new doormat. You've been walking on it with your nasty, grimy shoes for years. Time to replace it. 5. Throw out the dead plants. Stop trying to save them. Give it up and throw them away. Dead plants are bad karma. 6. Sweep the porch. A clean entry is a welcoming entry. 7. Burn a candle. Bake some cookies. Make it smell good - but not overwhelming. 8. Lock Fido (or Garfield) up. Or better yet, take him out. Just because you love animals doesn't mean the buyer will. 9. Take everything off of your bathroom counters and put it away. You want the buyer to see your house, not your deodorant. 10. Leave. It's business, not personal. Let the buyer see your house as they want to see it...which means not with you in it. |
